A replica of the HMS Bounty used in Marlon Brando's 1962 movie Mutiny on the Bounty has been destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

The movie ship sank off the coast of North Carolina on Sunday (28Oct12) after losing power amid the storm at sea.

Fourteen people have been rescued from the tall ship, according to the local Coast Guard. Two crewmembers are still missing.

The ship was scheduled to be burned at the end of the shooting of the 1962 film, but Brando protested and the ship was bought from Mgm by Ted Turner in 1986.
