Actor Mark Strong was hesitant to fight Robert Downey, JR. for their new movie SHERLOCK HOLMES, because the IRON MAN star is so good at martial arts, the idea of getting beaten up was "quite scary".
Strong portrays villain Lord Blackwood in Guy Ritchie's action adventure and is pitted against Downey, Jr.'s character Holmes in numerous scenes.
But the Brit confesses he did little to prepare for the physical aspect of the role - so the experience was a little daunting at first.
He tells WENN, "I watched boxing on the telly (television)! I play soccer twice a week, but that's about it. I'm not a gym bunny. Robert is a fantastic martial artist, so initially it was quite scary, but the fight scenes went off OK."
And Strong insists the battle was not as one-sided as he had expected: "I knocked the hell out of my knuckles a few times, and his, I have to say, so it was a bit of give and take."
