Mark Ronson and Katy B are putting the finishing touches to their Olympic Song.

The producer and dubstep singer Katy are collaborating on a track for the 2012 London Olympic Games, for which they went to different countries and sampled The Sounds made by athletes competing at their sports, which they are now arranging.

Katy told music.geeks.co.uk: "Yeah we've just finished the track. Mark went around the world recording the sounds of athletes; the sounds of their bodies, the noises in athletic pools, even an archer's bow hitting the board. Then he made the samples into drumkits.

"It's been a lot of fun, really cool, and meeting the athletes was amazing. It's all recorded now so we just need to work out the arrangement."

Among the athletes sampled by Mark were Russian sprinter Kseniya Vdovina, Mexican taekwondo star Maria Espinoza, Dayyan Jaffar - an archer from Singapore - and British table tennis player Darius Knight.

Of Darius' contribution, Mark said: "He has this very unusual sound. It is great. Sometimes he uses it to put off his opponents and sometimes it is a sound of victory - to me it sounded like James Brown so I knew I would use that."

Mark has also recorded the sounds of a 110 metre hurdler from the US, although their name is not yet known.

The track will be released next year to coincide with the Summer Olympics, which open on July 27.
