Actor Mark Hamill felt like such a fake while playing ace pilot LUKE SKYWALKER in the first Star Wars trilogy because in real life he has always been terrified of flying.

The movie star claims he's nothing like his most famous character in real life, and that has always disappointed young fans of the sci-fi franchise.

He explains, "I felt sort of guilty being this great pilot. When kids would say, 'Oh my gosh, you're the greatest thing since Superman and SANTA CLAUS,' and I'd say, 'Luke is, Mark's not.'

"I'm not really comfortable flying. I'm not a white-knuckler but I'd rather be on the ground than in a plane, that's for sure."
