Mariska Hargitay has adopted a baby-boy, just six months after she and husband Peter Hermann brought home their first daughter Amaya Josephine. The happy couple completed their adoption paperwork last week, welcoming Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Harman into the family, reports People Magazine.
The 47-year-old star of Law and Order said she was overjoyed with the new arrival, who was born over the summer, saying, "We never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, Yes, yes, yes! We knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right". The actress has vowed to continue working four days a week and says her job is being made easier by Andrew and Amaya's already close relationship, saying, "They'll lie in the crib together, and she'll hold his hand and put her arm around him. She's already so protective of him". Hargitay married husband Peter in Santa Barbara in 2004 after meeting on the set of Law and Order: Svu. He plays the recurring role of Defence Attorney Trevor Langan, while Hargitay is best known for playing Detective Olivia Benson.
The actress signed a new deal to appear in the thirteenth season of the crime series, although initial reports suggested she would only appear in a limited number of episodes. NBC chairman Rob Greenblatt later clarified that she would appear in every instalment.
