LAW + ORDER: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and 24's Kiefer Sutherland both took home their first Emmys at Sunday's (27AUG06) Primetime Emmy Award ceremony. Hargitay had been nominated three consecutive times, and Sutherland won his first Emmy after nine nominations. Sutherland's series 24 was also named Best Dramatic Series and he called his six years on the show "nothing short of exceptional". Former Seinfeld star Julia Louis-Dreyfus took her second Emmy home, this time for Leading Actress In A Comedy Series for her show THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE. While accepting her award she addressed the alleged "Seinfeld Curse" by quipping, "I'm not somebody who really believes in curses." Then holding up her Emmy said, "But curse this, baby!" The Office starring Steve Carell, which is based on the British sitcom created by Ricky Gervais, was named Best Comedy Series. AMERICAN BANDSTAND star Dick Clark, who is still recuperating from a 2004 stroke, made a rare appearance and received a warm standing ovation from the audience.
