Rap mogul Marion 'Suge' Knight's Death Row Records label could be seized by a Los Angeles court if he fails to attend a hearing there next month (APR06). Knight has been ordered to the hearing to discuss his assets, after losing a $107 million (GBP62 million) judgement last year (05) to Lydia Harris who claims she helped him start the label. Lawyers for Harris and her ex-husband MICHAEL - a jailed drug dealer, claiming half the settlement as part of their divorce - yesterday (23MAR06) asked the judge to put Death Row Records into receivership. Harris, serving a 28 year sentence in San Quentin State Prison, California, claims he invested $1.5 million to help start Death Row Records. Knight denies the claim. The Harrises are angered by Knight's absence from three debtor examinations - he also missed yesterday's hearing. Attorney STEVE GOLDBERG says, "Enough is enough. It is time for a receiver and an order for contempt. There are rules of court that should be obeyed and Mr. Knight is making a mockery of it." Harris' attorney Rex Beaber accused Knight of shifting his assets, but Knight's lawyer, Dermot Givens promised the judge his client would attend the next scheduled hearing on 1 April and would not hide any assets. In December (05), another court froze the mogul's assets insisting Knight had failed to answer questions about the case.
