Marion Cotillard talks about her new film, romance drama 'The Immigrant', in which she stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner. Her character is a Polish migrant who travels to the US only to be separated from her sister and thrust into the streets alone.
'She's a devoted person; she was nurse in her country', Marion says of her character. 'That's a big part of her personality that she's devoted; she's devoted to people, she's devoted to her sister.' Asked how her character dealt with her circumstances on arriving in America, she explains: 'She comes from horror. She's seen horrible things: she's seen her family being killed. So I think she's pretty strong and, what she goes through when she arrives in America, she can take a lot because she comes from this horror environment.'
