Marilyn Manson has re-recorded a cover of Depeche Mode's PERSONAL JESUS for his new greatest hits album after a duet of the song he recorded with namesake Shirley Manson failed to meet his standards.

The goth superstar recorded the track with GARBAGE singer Manson several years ago but admits he left the track off the because it wasn't good enough.

When it came time to put out a hits compilation, Manson revisited the track and decided to re-record it.

He says, "The track didn't really come out exactly how we wanted it. It wasn't fantastic enough.

"I wasn't in the best frame of mind when I did it, and I had to take some time away, and that's when I had a moment of clarity and Personal Jesus came to mind."

But, the rocker hopes to team up with Manson again: "I think we may end up doing something good together, so we want to try again later. I liked working with her, and we sounded good together. We looked good together, too."
