'I'm a greedy pig,/ I'm gonna get my fill,/ I'm gonna keep my eyes on the prize/ And I'll suck you dry, I will,' sings rapidly-rising British singer/songwriter Marika Hackman on her new single, "My Lover Cindy". This is the second release, after "Boyfriend", from the forthcoming album, "I'm Not Your Man", due out on Sub Pop Records on June 2nd. It was produced and mixed by Charlie Andrew of Alt-J, with whom Marika sang on their last album.
Confirmed on the bill for Reading and Leeds, things can only get bigger for Marika. Whoever 'Cindy' is had better watch out. The rest of us can watch out for Marika in the more positive, anticipatory sense of the phrase.
