While filming a stage performance in Germany, pop sensation Mariah Carey's dress opened, exposing herself to the audience.
German fans of pop star Mariah Carey were in for more than they bargained for when the singing sensation accidentally flashed fans. Carey suffered from an accidental "wardrobe malfunction" during filming for a German television show, when her dress fell apart, accidentally flashing her breasts at stunned fans, before being rescued by stage-hands.
While performing in Germany, Mariah Carey's dress fell open.
The star's experience was similar to that of Janet Jackson's infamous incident in 2004, which coined the phrase "wardrobe malfunction" in the first place. After briefly exposing herself, Carey was saved from further shame by the show's floor managers, who turned off the lights, allowing her to cover herself, recover her clothing, and leave the stage whilst hidden from view, according to a report from MTV news, who were present at the time.
But the red-faced superstar was able to see the funny side, and knowingly told the crowd: "Someone bring me a jacket or the shows off, we all know how quickly these images can spread around the world." Carey used the darkness to cover her hasty retreat backstage. After quickly re-clothing herself, Carey was able to bravely take to the stage once again, in order to continue her performance.
Mariah Carey released her tenth studio album, 'The Emancipation of Mimi' on 12th April 2005. On 12th July 2005, Carey released her third single from the album, 'Shake it Off', preceded by 'We Belong Together' on 29th March and 'It's Like That' on 7th January 2005. On its release, 'The Emancipation of Mimi' reached the top of Billboard's 200 list, and the top spot on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as well.
