As Mariah Carey officially signs on as a judge for American Idol, attention now turns to who will fill the one remaining seat on the panel. According to Deadline.com, Fox is "seriously considering" approaching country star Brad Paisley for one of the vacant spots.
Following the exits of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, Fox has been left with Randy Jackson on the panel, while Simon Cowell's X Factor boasts Britney Spears and Demi Lovato. As Deadline points out, 'Idol' bosses are hoping to land a country veteran because several former contestants have been successful by singing country hits, including Carrie Underwood, Scotty Mccreery and Kellie Pickler. Paisley is no stranger to American Idol, having performed on the show and co-hosted the Cma Awards with Underwood for four years. He also invited Scotty Mccreery - a former winner of Idol - to join him on tour. There's been no word from Paisley's camp, though he is touring between now and November which would cause scheduling conflicts with auditions through his touring obligations do clear up by the time the show is set to air.
Only time will tell who joins Mariah on the panel, but the American diva appears to be looking forward to her new role, tweeting, "It's gonna be so much fun working on AmericanIdol. As a singer-songwriter, I'm excited to help find and nurture new talent".
