Mariah Carey returned to the stage on Thursday evening (March 1, 2012) for an intimate concert at New York's Gotham Hall. Performing for only a couple of hundred fans, it was Mariah's first time on the stage since she took time out in 2011 after falling pregnant with twins.
Wearing a sleeveless black dress, Carey was on fine diva-form once again, and changed her shoes after singing just two songs. She also touched up her hair and makeup numerous times - telling the audience, "I didn't realize this was a big deal", reports the Associated Press. The Grammy Award winner sang some of the biggest hits, as well as a selection of covers including the Jackson 5's 'I'll Be There'. The concert formed one of four shows on Thursday evening dubbed 'Plot Your Escape: Four Concerts. Countless Celebrities. 1 Epic Night'. Ticketholders certainly got value for money in New York, with P Diddy opening up the show before Mariah took to the stage. Meanwhile, over in Los Angeles, Lil Wayne opened for Cee Lo Green, while Maroon 5 played with Sara Bareilles in Chicago. In New Orleans, fans got to see both Mary J. Blige and Gavin Degraw on the same stage.
