Mariah Carey, the American singer who gave birth to twins on Saturday (30th April 2011), has named the children 'Moroccan' and 'Monroe'. Mariah Carey, who had kept Twitter followers guessing as to the twins' names, finally announced the news via her official blog today (4th April 2011).
Carey revealed that her son has been named 'Moroccan Scott Cannon', because 'Scott' is her husband Nick Cannon's middle name. 'The Moroccan Room' is also the name of the top tier of Mariah's New York City apartment because of its Moroccan-inspired decor. The couple's daughter is named 'Monroe Cannon' after the legendary American actress Marilyn Monroe, who "has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life". Recently, the singer purchased the Hollywood icon's white piano from Christie's auction house. Monroe hasn't been given a middle name because Mariah doesn't have one herself. The singer's representative Cindi Berger told CNN, "It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn't be happier for all of them".
Previously, Mariah Carey had encouraged her Twitter followers to guess the names of her children, only hinting that both names began with the letter 'M'. Mariah and Cannon renewed their wedding vows in a Los Angeles hospital shortly after the birth of their children over the weekend.
