Global superstar acts Mariah Carey and No Doubt will open the new Nfl season, according to the Associated Press. This special performance, ahead of the New York Giants - Dallas Cowboys game, will take place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The Nfl is known for its glamorous shows at marque moments during the playing season, and this star-studded performance will only add to the prestige ahead of another exciting new campaign. The hour-long pre-game show will air at 7:30 p.m. Edt on NBC, Sept 5.
It will be an extra special moment for No Doubt drummer and New Orleans Saints fan Adrian Young, and the avid Nfl fan was quick to point out that he's done this kind of thing before, when No Doubt performed at the 37th Super Bowl in 2003. Carey shares Young's enthusiasm, and is said to be thrilled to be performing in what she calls her hometown of New York. The 42-year-old singer says she wants to make the new seasons launch "even more festive."
In addition to Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey, the Nfl can add another world-famous voice to its roster, with Cee-Lo Green taking over the intro to Nfl Network's Thursday Night Football. The larger-than-life solo artist has written a song called "I Love Football" to the tune of the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop." Carey latest single Triumphant (Get Em') was released on July. 8, and No Doubt's new album Push and Shove will be available Sept. 25 2012.
