Animal-loving superstar Mariah Carey has refused a Christmas gift of two fur coats, because the thought of animal skins repulses her.

The ALWAYS BE MY BABY singer received a Saga mink and a fur coat, worth $9,000 (GBP5,000) each, from a mysterious Russian millionaire, reports the New York Daily News.

Infuriated by the gift, Carey sent the furs straight to animal rights activists People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), where they will be used in high school presentations, which demonstrate the cruel way in which animals are slaughtered for the fur trade.

PETA's DAWN CARR enthuses, "Christmas came early."
