Mariah Carey has slammed reports she cancelled a host of live British radio interviews at the last minute because she was furious late rapper Tupac Shakur pipped her to the number one spot in the UK singles chart this week (begs 10JUL05).
Disgruntled radio DJs claim the singer was so confident her single WE BELONG TOGETHER would soar to the top of the chart, she promised interviews to radio chart shows on Sunday evening (10JUL05).
But the R+B beauty's track was outsold by just 300 copies, and she pulled out of the interviews, claiming she needed to rest her voice.
A source at Britain's Radio 1 says, "We were told that Mariah couldn't appear because she had to have a vocal rest. Let's just say I've heard better excuses."
But Carey's publicist counters, "She couldn't be on British radio shows because she was in Germany."14/07/2005 01:56
