Mariah Carey has notched up her eighth successive week at number one on the US singles chart.

Her single WE BELONG TOGETHER originally toppled Gwen Stefani's HOLLABACK GIRL way back in early June (05) and spent four weeks at number one before spending one week at number two as AMERICAN IDOL star Carrie Underwood took over at the top.

Carey's ballad bounced straight back to number one the following week and has since spent another three weeks on top.

Stefani's run at number two has ended - newcomer Rihanna's dance floor hit PON DE REPLAY has claimed the runner-up spot.

Pon De Replay also jumps to the top of Billboard's Hot Digital Tracks list.

Meanwhile, rapper Bow Wow follows the success of his latest album WANTED, which entered the charts at number three yesterday by landing his first top 10 single - LET ME HOLD YOU entered the Hot 100 list at number eight.

And original American Idol star Kelly Clarkson's BREAKAWAY hit has eventually been replaced at the top of the Adult Contemporary airplay chart - after a remarkable 20 week run at the top.

Clarkson is replaced by crooner Michael Buble's HOME, which has spent the past nine weeks at number two.

Clarkson's run at the top is that chart's third longest - behind Uncle KRACKER's DRIFT AWAY (28 weeks) and Celine Dion's A NEW DAY (21 weeks).
