Mariah Carey owns 2005 in the US, according to the year-end charts.

The singer's hit DON'T FORGET ABOUT US will start 2006 as it ended 2005 - at the top of the Billboard singles charts, while her album The Emancipation Of Mimi has been officially named the bestselling album of the year.

Carey's single ended rapper Chris Brown's reign at number one last week (22DEC05). The teenager's RUN IT hit ends 2005 as America's number two record.

And Carey's album, The Emancipation of Mimi, ends the year at number six on the Billboard 200, but the CD has pipped 50 CENT's THE MASSACRE to claim America's bestselling album of the year - by just 32,000 copies.

Carey has sold 4.866 million copies to 50 Cent's 4.834 million.
