RT @billboard: Mariah Carey to release new album later this year #BillboardNews https://t.co/49oc5tvmn4
Mariah Carey (born 27.3.1970) Mariah Carey is an American R&B and pop singer / songwriter. She first found chart success in the 1990s and her musical career has continued for over a decade.
Net worth: Mariah Carey's net worth was estimated at $510 million in 2013. (Celebritynetworth) Childhood: Mariah Carey was born in New York. Her parents are Patricia Hickey (an opera singer and vocal coach) and Alfred Carey (an aeronautical engineer). Mariah's parents divorced when she was three and Carey's mother began teaching Mariah to sing. After graduating from Harborfields High School, Mariah moved to New York City. In 1988, she attended a party at which she met Tommy Mottola, a Columbia Records executive. Mottola was given Mariah's demo tape and liked the tape so much that he tracked her down after the party and gave her a record deal with Columbia.
Career: Mariah Carey's eponymous debut album was released in 1990. She co-wrote the tracks on the album and has continued to do so since. Mariah Carey reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Four number one singles were released from the album and Carey won two Grammys - Best New Artist and Best Female Vocal Pop Performance (for 'Vision of Love.')
The second album, Emotions was a tribute to Motown. Released in 1991, Emotions did not sell as well as her debut, nor did it fare as well with the music press. However, when the title track was released as a single, Mariah Carey became the only act in history to have their first five singles go to number one in the US. Eager to quash rumours that her voice was heavily effected in the studio, Carey overcame the stage fright that prevented her from touring and featured on MTV Unplugged in 1992.
In 1993, her third album, Music Box was released and spawned her first UK number one single, a cover of Badfinger's 'Without You'. 'Dreamlover' and ''Hero' were both US number ones. The next year, Carey duetted with Luther Vandross on a cover of Lionel Richie and Diana Ross' 'Endless Love'.
The track was a hit and Carey followed it up with a festive album, Merry Christmas. The original track, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' was a huge worldwide hit (her first in Japan). The album became the most successful Christmas album of all time.
1995 saw the release of Mariah Carey's fifth album, Daydream. 'Fantasy', the single featuring rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard, debuted at number one and the album became her biggest selling release in the US, as well as gaining her six Grammy award nominations.
Butterfly was released in 1997 and although it was a success, failed to achieve the sales of her previous releases. In 1998, Mariah Carey recorded a duet with Whitney Houston. 'When You Believe' was recorded for the Prince of Egypt soundtrack and won an Academy Award. Rainbow was Carey's seventh album, released in 1999. 'Heartbreaker', featuring Jay-Z, was a number one single and made Carey the only artist to have had a number one in each year of the 1990s. Leaving Columbia records at the turn of the century, Carey signed a contract with EMI. The deal was reported to be worth $80 million. When Carey eventually released Glitter, (the semi-autobiographical film and accompanying soundtrack that she had been working on for some time), it was largely derided by the press and proved to be Mariah's worst selling release. Shortly after the release of Glitter, Columbia released a Greatest Hits album. However, this also failed to sell well.
In 2002, Virgin bought out Carey's contract for $28 million. With a new contract under her belt, Carey released Charmbracelet. The album preformed badly in the album charts and her vocal abilities were criticised in the media. In 2004, however, she was awarded the Chopard Diamond award for selling more than 100 million albums worldwide. The Emancipation of Mimi was Carey's 10th album, released in 2005. The album became the best-selling album of the year in the US. Two years later, she received a 'recording star' on the Hollywood Wall of Fame. She was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame the same year. E=MC2, Carey's 11th album, as released in 2008. The lead single, 'Touch My Body' became her 18th number one in the Billboard Hot 100, making her second only to The Beatles, who have had 21 number one singles. E=MC2 was her sixth number one album.
In 2008, she appeared briefly in the comedy 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan' opposite Adam Sandler. The following year she appeared in the drama 'Precious' with Gabourey Sidibe. Her twelfth studio album was 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' which became her lowest selling album so far. It featured the single 'Obsessed' which was thought to include a dig at Eminem after his Nick Cannon gibe.
She celebrated the release with her Angels Advocate Tour. In 2010, she performed 'Hero' during President Barack Obama's Neighborhood Inaugural Ball. She then released a second Christmas album entitled 'Merry Christmas II You' - a follow up to her best-selling festive album. She also sang a duet of 'When Do The Bells Ring For Me' with Tony Bennett which appeared on his 'Duets II' album.
2011 saw her record a duet of 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' with Justin Bieber for his 'Under the Mistletoe' album. She appeared on 'American Idol' as a judge for the twelfth season, but later revealed not to have enjoyed it due to several spats with co-panellist Nicki Minaj. In 2013, she appeared alongside Forest Whitaker in Lee Daniels' 'The Butler'. That year she recorded 'Almost Home' for the movie 'Oz the Great and Powerful'. The next year she unveiled her thirteenth album 'Me. I Am Mariah' which included the single 'Beautiful' featuring Miguel.
Personal Life: Mariah Carey married Tommy Mottola in 1993 before divorcing in 1998 due partly to his controlling behaviour. Mariah Carey surprised celebrity news sites everywhere when she married Nick Cannon in a secret ceremony in 2008. Their marriage came after just 6 weeks of dating. The pair subsequently gave birth to twins named Monroe and Moroccan in 2011, having previously suffered a miscarriage the previous year. Mariah suffered many complications during the pregnancy including pre-eclampsia, and gestational diabetes.
Tanaka, who is one of Carey's back-up dancers, has reportedly split with her because of her continued closeness with ex-husband Nick Cannon.
Mariah Carey has reportedly split up with her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka, after just five months of dating, after the professional dancer reportedly became jealous of Mariah’s ongoing relationship with her ex-husband Nick Cannon.
The glamorous diva and her backing dancer Tanaka grew close late last year in the immediate aftermath of the collapse of Mariah’s engagement to billionaire James Packer. In February this year, the singer went public with the relationship after three months of dating.

Mariah's 1994 hit 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is being turned into an animated film to be released by the end of 2017.
Mariah Carey is determined to squeeze every conceivable drop out of her utterly ubiquitous festive hit ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’, announcing that a new CGI-animated movie will be based on the song.
The diva herself unveiled a teaser clip for the upcoming animated feature, the existence of which was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter later on Tuesday (March 21st) and is due to hit cinemas later in 2017.
The movie’s plot apparently expands on that of Mariah’s children’s book of the same name, which was released back in 2015. Directed by Guy Vasilovich from a script by Temple Mathews, Carey herself is set to narrate the film as well as hold down an executive production role, which features a voice cast including Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, Breanna Yde, Phil Morris, Laya Hayes and Keiko Agena.

The singer has shared a cryptic message of support for her former husband.
The singer did not state what the allegations against the father of her children were, however her post comes just days after Cannon hit out at the National Enquirer over a story they appear to be planning to run, alleging that Carey will be petitioning for full custody of their children because of Cannon's “erratic behaviour”.

A spin-off from 2014's awesome The Lego Movie, this raucously paced action-comedy is proof that nonstop hilarity isn't enough. Genre fans will adore the relentless barrage of silliness, as wordplay, sight-gags, film references and elaborate jokes pile on top of each other. But it's all rather exhausting, because the story is simply too slippery for the audience to hold onto.
When we catch up with Batman (again voiced by Will Arnett), he's revelling in his lonely life surrounded by his huge collection of gadgets in the cave under Wayne Manor, where his only companion is his sardonic butler Alfred (Ralph Fiennes). But an encounter with the Joker (Zach Galifianakis) gets him thinking about his solitude, and new commissioner Barbara Gordon (Rosario Dawson) wants to work with him rather than let him do everything on his own. Then he inadvertently adopts the orphan Dick (Michael Cera), just as the Joker puts into motion a nefarious plan to unleash an army of bad guys on Gotham City.
The film pings from one crazed action set-piece to the next, packing comical touches into every image and each line of dialogue. The audience has little choice but to hold on for the ride, and since it's impossible to see every gag that flies at us, this is clearly a movie that requires multiple viewings. The problem is that the story and characters aren't very inviting. Arnett's gruff whisper is genuinely hilarious, especially in his postmodern flights of fancy, but Batman is a preening idiot, really. Dawson, Cera, Fiennes and Galifianakis are more likeable, but are sidelined in the story. And the sprawling, mega-starry supporting cast offers a continual stream of solid laughs. But it's all so frantic that the sentimental themes in the story never get a chance to resonate before the script makes fun of them.

Mariah and Elton were paid a total of £3.5 million to play at the wedding of Irene Kogan, the granddaughter of Russian business tycoon Valery Kogan.
The two pop icons performed as the highlights of a nine-hour programme of entertainment at the wedding of 19 year olds Irene Kogan and Daniel Kenvey on Saturday (January 14th) held at London’s Landmark hotel. Mariah Carey is suing FEG Entreteniminetos after she was forced to cancel her shows in South America last year.
Mariah Carey has taken legal action against the promoters of her cancelled shows.
The 'Hero' hitmaker was set to perform in Chile and Argentina last year but has claimed she was forced to axe the gigs in South America due to late payments from FEG Entretenimientos and now she wants the firm to cough up for her the fees in total because they've allegedly breached the contract they agreed on.
However, the bitter legal battle is set to get sticky as FEG have fired back at the singer and accused her of harming their reputation by not performing.

Carey was ridiculed on social media after her performance at ‘Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve’ went horribly wrong.
Mariah Carey has addressed her now infamous New Year’s Eve performance, saying it “turned into an opportunity to humiliate me”.
In an audio recording uploaded to her Twitter account, Carey placed the blame on ‘technical issues’ with the production team, including an ear monitor which she said was not working.
The singer stormed off stage on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve

The rumoured diva stormed off stage after suffering technical difficulties and has been the topic of a lot of people’s conversations ever since.
