Maria Sharapova, the tennis star and model who became engaged to SASHA VUJACIC last month, has responded to rumours of an imminent wedding by saying the pair are "taking their time" in organising the big day, reports US Magazine.
It has been reported that Los Angeles Lakers star Vujacic proposed to 23-year-old Sharapova with a $250,000 engagement ring, and jewellery expert MICHAEL O'CONNOR said the ring appears to be a cushion-cut diamond of approximately 7 to 8 carats on a split-shank platinum band. The tennis champion said, "He completely surprised me! I'm so lucky and very much spoiled". The Serbian-born basketball star asked Sharapova to marry him at their home in California.
When asked if the couple have begun planning the wedding, Sharapova said, "We're taking our time. Right now we're just happy to be engaged. We're both very focused on what we do and we travel a lot. We're just happy to have each other!", before adding, "From the beginning he respected and understood my life. We're both very independent people, our careers required that, but at the end of the day we're comfortable and strong around each other".
