Spanish singer/songwriter ALEJANDRO SANZ stunned the LATIN GRAMMYS in Los Angeles last night (01SEP04) by sweeping five prizes.
His album NO ES LO MISMO, and its title song, claimed all the gongs, making Sanz the top-winning Latin Grammy act in the event's five year history - with a total of 11 awards.
Sanz couldn't attend the ceremony at the SHRINE AUDITORIUM. His awards were collected by his producer LULO PEREZ.
Brazilian singer Maria Rita and CAFE TACUBA star EMMANUEL DEL REAL were also celebrated.
Rita won Best New Artist, while her self-titled debut album claimed the Best Brazilian Album title.
Del Real's ERES won for best rock song, while his Caff Tacuba album CUATRO CAMINOS claimed the Best Alternative Music Album prize.
