LATEST: Maria Friedman's post-cancer spirit has astounded cast and crew of Broadway show THE WOMAN IN WHITE - after she returned to the show last night (17NOV05), just two weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a lump from her breast.
Friedman was determined not to let the cancer beat her and keep her away from the critically-acclaimed production of SIR Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical.
She says, "The audience was wonderful and so was the rest of the cast. Everyone believed it was possible.
"The show just had to go on. It sounds a bit cliched but it's true."
"My doctor said to me before the surgery, 'This is a bad day today. You've got cancer, but tomorrow is a great day. You won't have it.'
"I feel completely blessed that today I'm feeling well."
