Movie beauty Maria Bello's most prized possession is a sparkly gold shoe she found in the New York City snow, because it inspired her to keep going when she was on the verge of quitting acting for good. The A History of Violence star had been lambasted by an angry casting director after an unsuccessful audition, but as she ran through the streets in tears, she spotted the golden shoe, and saw it as a positive omen. She says, "I was crying, running down 23rd Street. It was snowing. I had my combat boots on and suddenly I saw something sparkling in the snow. "It was a gold sparkly shoe. I took off my boot and tried it on and it fitted me. At that moment I thought, 'God is watching out for me and I should keep going.' I still have that shoe."
