Marc Jacobs is to star in his first movie.

The designer - creative director at Louis Vuitton - will start shooting the film next week and although he won't give too much away, he admits he can't wait.

He said: "I got cast in a role in a movie. They're filming next week and I'm excited. I get to play a character that's not myself at all."

Although Marc has never been in a film before, he did create the costumes on behalf of Louis Vuitton for Wes Anderson's 'The Darjeeling Limited'.

As well as starring in a film, Marc recently joined the board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

The designer was inducted to the board last week, alongside Jack McCullough and Lazaro Hernandez, masterminds of womenswear label Proenza Schouler, after being nominated to join the board in July.

Other board members include Calvin Klein's Francisco Costa, Oscar De La Renta, Narciso Rodriguez and Tory Burch.

The council also celebrated welcoming 33 new designers to its fold with a reception at Donna Karan's Central Park West home last week.

Diane Von Furstenberg welcomed the class of 2011 with a "we are a family" speech.
