Bollywood star PARVEEN BABI has been found dead in her luxury apartment in Bombay, India.
Police found the 50-year-old actress's body in her terraced flat where she lived alone after neighbours noticed her door had remained unopened for several days.
Babi is believed to have died of natural causes but the police have sent her body for examination to confirm this.
A senior officer at the Juhu Police Station in Bombay, S CHAUHAN, says, "She was found dead in her own apartment in Juhu.
"We have sent her body to Cooper Hospital to run a post-mortem.
"It is standard procedure as the body was at least three days old when we found it.
"One of Babi's legs looked gangrenous, we have been told she was suffering from diabetes so it could be a result of that."
Film director Mahesh Bhatt comments, "Parveen Babi was the real McCoy and the original free-spirit of Bollywood. She had an alternate morality and had the guts to live life on her own terms."23/01/2005 21:36
