Madonna 's promotional campaign has been controversial, rarely short of criticism and at times out-dated, yet at the end of it all the Queen of Pop has still managed to back up her moniker with another commercial sales success as her new album 'Mdna' crashed into the U.S. Billboard album charts at Number One, reports Reuters.
It's the fifth time that the 53 year-old has debuted at the top spot with an album, with even the much-maligned 'Hard Candy' coming in first back in 2008 in the wake of similarly fierce criticism from reviewers. In an echo of that, critics have panned 'Mdna' and yet its shot its way to 359,000 copies sold in the first week, whilst iTunes have said that it's topped their charts in more than 40 different countries.
