Madonna and Guy Ritchie are set to become a landlord and landlady after purchasing their local pub.

The Queen of pop and her film director husband have splashed out £2.5 million on the 18th century Punchbowl public house in London's exclusive Mayfair district.

A friend of the singer told the People that Madge "adores" the pub and regularly pops in to take a break from her hectic life.

"Madonna loves the beer and Guy meets all his pals down there. They have been desperate to own this place for a long time and have been making offers on it for ages. Now it has finally happened," they continued.

The celebrity couple purchased the Punchbowl, which is round the corner from their London home, from Greg Foreman – son of the gangster Freddie Foreman.

According to the News of the World, a number of A-listers regularly visit the watering hole including BARBRA STREISLAND, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

Meanwhile, MADONNA has recently revealed that she is not worried about hitting fifty – instead seeing it as an excuse to party.

The HUNG UP singer reaches the milestone age this August.
