Pop singer Madonna is reported to be planning on adopting a second child from Malawi.
Marie Claire reports Madonna is renewing efforts to adopt a little girl she met during a previous visit to the African country.
It is claimed, however, that Mercy James' family are firmly against her adoption.
The Queen of Pop already has one adopted son, David, whom she also met at a Malawi orphanage.
And she is now planning on adopting a sister for him.
Malawian adoption minister Penstone Kilembe told the Sun newspaper: "Madonna's representatives have been visiting the girl.
"The adoption is now advanced - all the government is waiting for is Madonna to forward the petition of adoption formalities. Then Mercy will be able to leave the country for a new life."
Mercy's mother died in during child-birth and she has been living in an orphanage since, but her family are said to have blocked Madonna's previous efforts to adopt her.
Yesterday, her grandmother told reporters: "When Mercy is no longer a baby we want her back. I do not want the money they said they'd give me."
Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have two other children, Lourdes and Rocco.
