Pop superstar Madonna feels closer to her late mother since giving birth to her own children.
The FROZEN singer was only six when her mum died of cancer, and Madonna only knew of her preoccupation with religion and being a good wife.
But Madonna has developed a deeper understanding of her late parent's motivation through her own motherhood.
The 47-year-old says, "My mother was a religious zealot, a Catholic: there were always nuns and priests in my house when I was growing up.
"I don't know how curious my mother was, how much she pushed to know what was going on.
"That's my personality - I want to know what's going on behind what I can see.
"I feel her pain now. I understand who my mother was by being a mother.
"I guess I'm only really getting to know my mother now."
