Madonna is close to settling her legal spat with the administrators of Marlon Brando's estate after using the late movie star's image on tour.

The pop star flashed a shot of the actor up on a big screen during performances of her name-dropping hit Vogue on her Mdma tour, upsetting Brando's estate bosses, who sued over the alleged illegal use of the photo.

Brando's licensing representatives demanded $100,000 (£62,500) for each non-wilful use and $1 million (£625,00) for each wilful use of the image.

But it appears both sides are close to reaching a deal - lawyers have informed the court they have reached a settlement in principle but need time to execute full agreement.
