The superstar shot straight to the top of the British countdown with her third greatest hits record, Celebration.
Madonna is now on a par with The King as the solo artist with the most number one albums in the U.K. Only the Beatles have more, with 15.
The Material Girl beat out competition from Muse's latest offering, The Resistance, which came in at two.
Third is British rapper Dizzee Rascal's Tongue N' Cheek. Fourth is Mika's The Boy Who Knew Too Much, while Aussie singer Peter Andre is in at five with Revelation.
In the British singles chart, Taio Cruz's Break Your Heart is number one, followed by David Guetta feat Akon with Sexy Chick. Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys is at three, while Shakira's She Wolf is in fourth place.
Jay-Z rounds out the top five with his Rihanna and Kanye West collaboration, Run This Town.
