French actress Madeleine Robinson has died at the age of 88 in Switzerland, after a screen career spanning almost 60 years.
Robinson, whose breakthrough role came in 1936's MIOCHE, died in the Vaud canton where she had been living since 1977 with her poodle VENDREDI for company.
While her real name was SVOBODA, Robinson chose her surname from the novel ROBINSON CRUSOE because it suggested freedom.
