Singer Macy Gray was saddened when music mogul Tommy Mottola left Sony Music after nearly 15 years, because his departure ended her love affair with the label.
Mottola signed Gray to Sony BMG subsidiary Epic Records in 1999 and her first album I TRY went on to sell 3 millions copies in the United States.
When Mottola, ex-husband of Mariah Carey, left Sony in 2003, Gray followed a year later (04).
She says, "Tommy Mottola left and everything kinda fell apart after that.
"All the people that really supported me over there, they all left. So it was really different.
"And the guy that took over (ANDY LACK) wanted me to do something I didn't want to do - and it just kind of fell apart.
"He wanted me to do a 1960s cover album, but I didn't want to ruin my career."
