Macaulay Culkin failed to attend his usual DJ gig at New York's Le Poisson Rouge club last night. He hadn't completely shirked his responsibilities, though; the Home Alone star had dropped off his iPod at the club so that revellers could still dance the night away to some of Culkin's favorite tunes.
The reason behind MACaulay's no-show last night are unclear but the 31 year-old may have wanted to avoid any paparazzi keen to add to the photos that emerged of him looking gaunt, causing concern amongst his fans. He was expected to begin DJing at around 10pm but instead, he left the iPod and a member of the club's staff told People magazine "He's here all the time. He comes pretty often. Tonight, something just came up and he couldn't make it.But he did drop off his iPod.It's a shame he's not here, because he always plays really good music."
A note was taped to a box by the downstairs bar of the club explaining that Culkin wouldn't be attending, and that entry was free if customers brought canned food for charity. The note read "Macaulay Culkin's Food Drive" In response to the comments about his ill-looking appearance, a representative for the actor said "Macaulay Culkin is in perfectly good health. For any media outlet to speculate otherwise is reckless, irresponsible and destructive." Culkin rose to fame in the 1990s when he played the lead role in Home Alone and then starred alongside Anna Chlumsky in My Girl. As an adult, however, he has failed to maintain the level of popularity that he did as a child actor.
