Lupita Nyong'o's friends are ''very jealous'' she met Leonardo Dicaprio.

The '12 Years a Slave' actress - who had her photograph taken with the 'Wolf of Wall Street' at the Golden Globe awards last month - is amazed that she gets to mingle with ''famous'' people at glitzy award ceremonies.

She said: ''This has been such a beautiful time for me. At the Golden Globes, I met Leonardo DiCaprio - he was so nice and gracious.

''It felt like I was watching the show on TV and all these famous people were in my living room.

''All my girlfriends are still very excited that I got to meet Leonardo. I've posted all my photos of us together. Everyone's very jealous.''

The 30-year-old actress feels very ''proud'' that '12 Years a Slave' has experienced so much recognition during awards season and is happy that her performance as slave Patsey has connected with audiences.

She said: ''I'm just so proud and relieved that the film has achieved recognition because Solomon Northup's story deserved to be told. I'm very happy that my performance has in some way resonated with audiences. I gave everything I had to it.''
