A pair of best pals are at the point where they are contemplating why nothing in their lives seems to have turned out right so far. To take their mind off their money issues, however, they decide to attend a life-changing costume party - dressed as cops. Everyone seems to assume that they really are law enforcers and they decide to abuse their position by executing their 'power' over party-goers for various minor issues. Hooked on their so-called status, they decide to purchase an old police car despite the risk of being sent to jail for several years for impersonating officers of the law. They are soon favoured by the neighbourhood for their laid-back attitude, but as their fame starts to spiral out of control, they find themselves caught up in the real life criminal underworld with no easy way out.

Rachel and Darcy have been friends since school, though the girls are very different, it was a case of opposites attract. Rachel being the intelligent, mousy and shy half of the couple and Darcy is the louder and much more extrovert character. Whilst at uni studying law Rachel buckled down with her study but she also met Dex, a charming guy who, since the first time she met him, has has a 'thing' for. Finally just as Rachel thinks she's plucks up the courage to make a move, along comes Darcy and steps in the way of her plans by making a move on him first.

As with his past two efforts, Wain's latest is top-lined by the invaluable Paul Rudd, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Wain. He plays Danny, a spokesperson for Minotaur Energy Drink who spends his days telling teenagers not to do drugs with a fluffy Minotaur dancing behind him. Inside that jolly Minotaur costume is Wheeler (Seann William Scott), a co-worker who wants nothing more than to be Dan's friend and get laid. This comes as a surprise as it seems that Danny has no friends save for his girlfriend Beth (Elizabeth Banks), and even she is beginning to tire of his wasting-my-life hissy fits. It's when Beth breaks it off that Dan loses it and tells a cafeteria filled with teenagers how awesome drugs are and how life sucks. That's before he mounts the Minotaur Mobile upon a statue of a horse.
