The Americans are coming to Downton Abbey - Lucy Liu and Ginnifer Goodwin are among the famous U.S. fans of the period drama clamouring for roles alongside Shirley Maclaine and Elizabeth McGovern.
Writer/director Julian Fellowes' drama about a fictional high society family in rural England has become a big hit in America and now top TV and movie stars are lining up for guest spots.
Charlie's Angels star Liu says, "A role in Downton Abbey would be amazing."
And Walk The Line star Goodwin has a lofty goal of replacing great Dame Maggie Smith on the show.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "I would love to take over Maggie Smith's role (as the Dowager Countess)."
