British rock band Lower Than Atlantis recorded a Christmas song in a clever move to ensure radio air time during the festive period.
The four-piece has released its first ever Christmas track entitled Merry Christmas (Wherever You Are) but admit they struggled to write an original holiday track that struck the balance between being festive and tasteful.
Frontman Mike Duce tells Gigwise.com, "Lyrically it was hard as Christmas is such a tacky time of year. Trying to make it Christmassy and not tacky was hard."
The band also felt it was an ideal time for them to release a Christmas song. Duce explains, "During December, the radio pretty much shuts down for bands like us. They only play the top ten and Christmas songs. We haven't got a top ten hit yet so we thought we'd write a Christmas song. Why not?"
