Louise and the Pins' new single, Bell Jar, will be released on April 9th, 2012, through Chess Club. Their debut album, which has yet to be named, will be released sometime in 2012. Bell Jar follows on from their debut double A side single Melancholy/Beauty Strange.
The video for Bell Jar was directed by Jon Shrimpton and features actor David Bradley, known for his roles as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films and Walder Frey from Game of Thrones. David plays a man who sits in a quiet pub, nursing a pint and thinking about days gone by. Louise makes an appearance as a rockabilly barmaid pulling pints.
Louise And the Pins feature Louise Hull and her backing singers, Bethan Gorman and Sara Templeman. Louise started her singing career in a four piece acapella group in her native Wakefield; shortly afterwards, she started learning the guitar. After dropping out of Newcastle University, she moved to London, where she started touring the city as a solo artist.
After meeting Bethan and Sara, the three travelled to France to record. Since then, Louise and the Pins have built up a solid fan base through touring, including a performance at Glastonbury in 2011 and supporting the likes of Laura Marling and Martha Wainwright.
