Olympic torch designers Barber Osgerby have designed a bespoke lamp for Louis Vuitton as part of a special exhibition.
Louis Vuitton has teamed up with Barber Osgerby.
The fashion house has joined forced with 2012 Olympic torch designers Barber Osgerby to launch a special bell lamp for their Objets Nomades Collection.
Jay Osgerby, one half of the design duo, said: ''We were excited to work with Louis Vuitton, which has such a rich history of craftsmanship and design. It was a great opportunity to bring a new kind of product to a company that has for so long pioneered the style and function of the objects we travel with.''
His creative partner Edward Barber added: ''We began with the idea, then the function. First came an exploration of the technological possibilities to ensure that the lamp was both portable and sustainable. Ease of carriage and the way the lamp's solar and lighting technology work informed the shape. Our method is reductive, hence the simplicity of form.''
The collaboration is part of a new exhibition of travel-inspired items involving 11 renowned contemporary designers, which can be viewed at Louis Vuitton's New Bond Street Maison store in London.
Edward Barber is also set to curate a shelf in the fashion emporium's bookstore, showcasing books that have changed his life.
