Louis Tomlinson is keen on the idea of portraying his friend Jamie Vardy on the big screen in a rumoured biopic about the England and Leicester City footballer’s life, as he was interviewed at Vardy’s wedding last week.

“It's a golden opportunity,” the One Directioner told Hello! magazine as he posed with Vardy and his bride Rebekah Nicholson for the cover. “Jamie's story is incredible - he's incredible.”

Tomlinson is known to be a big football fan, frequently playing in charity matches and a supporter of League Two side Doncaster Rovers, and has been a friend of Vardy's for years. “He's a lovely guy, very easy-going and such a great example for anyone who thinks they can't follow their dreams.”

The 29 year old striker Vardy was playing non-league football just four years ago, but his 24 league goals helped rank outsiders Leicester City to the Premier League title this season, in what many are calling the greatest sporting upset of all time.

Screenwriter Adrian Butchart, the man behind the Goal! franchise of fictional football films, is said to be producing the film, which has been rumoured to be in the pipeline ever since it looked likely that Leicester would win the title.

“For a football fan, any kind of involvement in a story like Jamie's is exciting,” Tomlinson continued, raising the prospect that he’ll be following his 1D bandmate Harry Styles into acting after he was cast in Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Dunkirk earlier this month.

Tomlinson attended the wedding, which took place on May 25th at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire and reportedly featured Pot Noodles being served to guests, with his new American girlfriend Danielle Campbell.
