THE KINGSMEN's 1963 party favourite Louie Louie has topped a new poll of singles that music fans must own.

The jukebox countdown in British rock bible MOJO also features classics by Elvis Presley, Sex Pistols, Rolling Stones, THE Beatles and BOOKER T + THE MG'S.

THE SMITHS' HOW SOON IS NOW is the only post-1980 tune in the top 35, while the most recent hit on the list is THE WHITE STRIPES' FELL IN LOVE WITH A Girl from 2002.

Notable absentees on the top 100 countdown include Nirvana's SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT and 1980s rock anthem SHE SELLS SANCTUARY by The Cult.
