Lou Reed is to perform his critically-slammed 1973 album Berlin at upcoming shows in his native New York and Australia. The former Velvet Underground frontman always felt the album was greatly under-appreciated and he's hoping to make critics reconsider by playing the release in its entirety at dates beginning next month (DEC06). Reed tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I always thought it (album) was a masterpiece." The rocker has commissioned artist and movie-maker Julian Schnabel to design the stage set for the shows and fellow New Yorker ANTONY HEGARTY, of ANTONY + The Johnsons, will provide backing vocals.
