The epic Lord Of The Rings movies have been hailed as sporting the best film soundtracks of all time.

OSCAR-winning Canadian HOWARD SHORE's classical composition for the two films topped a poll of 44,000 listeners to British radio station CLASSIC FM for the second year running.

SIMON BATES, a DJ for the popular station, says, "Howard Shore is following in the footsteps of composers like MOZART in bringing new audiences to classical music."

Second place was awarded to Gladiator, with third place honours going to Star Wars legend John Williams.

Veteran movie composer John Barry, best known for his work on the James Bond films, featured twice in the top ten - for Out of Africa and DANCES WITH WOLVES.
