A woman has been arrested after allegedly stealing two swords featured in the Lord Of The Rings movie franchise from a New York storage facility.

Brenda MCKay is facing a charge of felony burglary amid claims she swiped the weapons and a number of other film props used in the fantasy film series and its prequel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, from a warehouse in Dutchess County last Tuesday (28May13).

She was arraigned in Dover Town Court and is currently being held in Dutchess County Jail on $100,000 (£64,516) bail.

Police are expected to file further counts against the 49 year old as the swords are estimated to be worth $150,000 (£96,774) each.

The majority of the items stolen were recovered on Wednesday (29May13).
