La Roux felt ''under pressure'' to make great music after being tipped in the BBC Sound of 2009 list along with Little Boots, Florence and the Machine, White Lies and Empire of the Sun.
La Roux felt "under pressure" to make great music.
Singer Elly Jackson admitted she felt huge pressure when she was named in the top five of the BBC's Sound of 2009 list - which tips newcomers for success - after releasing only one single and worried about how her album would then be received.
She said: "It was a bit like... well I've only released one single. And then there's just this massive pressure 'Well where's your record?'"
Despite feeling pressure, Elly admits she would've been "annoyed" if she hadn't made the list.
She added to BBC 6 Music radio: "It was flattering. But I don't think any of us had finished our records yet. We would have all been annoyed if we weren't in it."
Elly, 21, said: "I think we just all felt like we were all in the same confusing boat together."
The 'Bulletproof' singer said she couldn't wait to see who makes the 2010 poll.
She said: "I can't wait to see who else is going to be really early overhyped and then consequently be freaked out for the next three months while they try and finish their album. I can't wait to see who they're going to do that to this year!"
