Singer Lisa Marie Presley has axed an upcoming show in New York as the city continues its clean-up from superstorm Sandy.

Elvis Presley's daughter was due to play the NyCB Theater at Westbury on 16 November (12), but she has decided to call off the gig in the wake of the post-tropical cyclone, which destroyed thousands of homes and left millions without electricity when it hit America's East Coast last week (29Oct12).

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "November 16 show in Westbury, Ny is cancelled due to conditions caused by Hurricane Sandy. Please help spread the word about this."

Presley isn't the only star to abandon a gig due to Sandy - Aretha Franklin announced on Wednesday (07Nov12) that she was postponing her upcoming concerts in New Jersey and New York to give her fans more time to recover in the aftermath of the storm.
