The Mean Girls star sat down for an interview with the British newsman weeks before she entered rehab in California on Friday (03May13), and opened up about her dad Michael's past drug issues and the way her treated her mother Dina and her siblings.
She explained, "I was never afraid of him (when he was on drugs), but my younger siblings were terrified. My first instinct was to always make sure they and my mum were Ok."
And she revealed that every attempt she has made to reconcile with her father in recent years has ended badly: "He won't change. I just think there comes a point where you just kind of have to accept what it is. Whenever I do try to bring him back into my life, he creates chaos for me and uses it to his advantage."
The interview was published in a Mail on Sunday supplement and has since lit up the Internet, prompting Michael to comment on the lashing he received from his troubled daughter.
He says, "It was more like an interview with (ex-wife) Dina. She (Lindsay) didn't mean any of it. I think by now we all know that Dina puts her and my other kids up to it."
He adds, "Dina is a sick woman and I feel sorry for her. She continues to do this and just create more chaos in their (the kids') lives. Not only is she the root of all the problems but she is the root of all evil in our family."
Lindsay Lohan is currently seeking treatment for an ongoing substance abuse issue as part of a 90-day, court-ordered rehab stint at the Betty Ford Clinic.
