Lindsay Lohan reportedly "twisted" the arm of a Betty Ford Clinic employee when she tried to phone The Police.

The 24-year-old actress - who is currently undergoing a court-ordered rehabilitation stay until early January - is said by former chemical technician Dawn Holland to have been "yelling and screaming" when she was caught returning late to her sober house at the Californian facility after a night out with some fellow patients.

Dawn said: "Lindsay and two other patients had snuck out, went drinking and tried to sneak back in and they got caught. We were told by administration to do a breathalyser test, which she refused to do. She was angry and out of control."

According to the former worker, when she went to call the police, Lindsay "kept yelling and cursing and screaming and then "she grabbed my wrist and twisted my arm and my hand to get the phone".

Dawn - who has now been dismissed from her job at the clinic - added Lindsay was the only one of the three patients who continued to be "uncooperative" after she had been caught.

She added in an interview with gossip website TMZ: "She was the only patient out of the three who was being very uncooperative and out of control. I did not touch the woman! I am not willing to risk my job over any patient."

However, her story is at odds with Lindsay's father Michael Lohan, who claims the 'Mean Girls' star had simply gone to get a haircut and added Dawn "had it out" for her since she started treatment.

He said: "The woman who claims she was attacked in the house had it out for Lindsay since day one. She didn't want her to drive and didn't want to give her any passes to go out.

"Lindsay had gone to get her hair done with two girls from Betty Ford. While Lindsay was at the salon, the two girls left for a bit. After the girls got back to pick up Lindsay, they returned to Betty Ford ten minutes late. When they walked in, instead of the Betty Ford staffer addressing all the girls, she grabbed Lindsay by the arm and told her she needed to take a urine sample immediately. Lindsay told the woman, 'Get your hands off me' and brushed her away. Lindsay never assaulted her."
